Well for of our niche blogs late November and December is the slow season. The traffic is much later than March-September, the CTR drops, and on top of that Google starts paying less. Seen this pattern for over half a decade now, and it doesn’t look like that is going to change.
Of course, if you own some blog that gets over 5,000,000 page loads a month, then you are not having to worry about paying the bills. For us it’s getting to be just that. We’re still making it right now, but if so much as one blog gets “hurt” on an algorithm change a Google, then well….I’m either getting a new job, or we’re selling the big house and the RV. Boo-hoo-hoo…..rough life.
Today being Monday is usually a pretty big day for Adsense earnings, with a total of $180 – $250 day, but as of right now at 9:14 Pm our total is $105.78. Used to be that was still great Money in Canadian dollars after the currency exchange between the USD Google bucks, but currently there is not a big difference in the dollar (thanks to the crooks on Wall Street). Used to be great living up here in Canada. Our dollar was as low as $64 cents to the USA dollar, and when we got a $6500 USD check from Google it was a big yippee!.
So we’re not selling the house yet. We’re gonna see what happens in January first to see if we’re making enough Adsense money from all our blogs.
Of course MSN Adcenter is still dicking around with one of our sites making their “judgement” on whether it will be accepted into their list of Advertisors. Love to tell them to just go fuck themselves, but we still need the PPC action a little longer before we go totally organic.
PPC is like a drug – a false sense of security. You’re at the mercy of their system and their ever changing policies and they can wipe out half your business overnight. That is what happened to us with the Adcenter Transition, and I’ve been scrambling to keep the Internet income coming ever since. Sometimes I wish I had never used PPC at all – it would have forced me to really pull it together and get allot more natural traffic to my blogs.
Oh well – it was a really good ride, and I know that most blog publishers are making allot less than $3700 or so dollars each month. Tomorrow I’ll get back into the swing of writing some posts. I was so pissed with today’s numbers and Adsense CTR that I only did one 700 word post.
Later.
