Yahoo! Distribution Network Click Fraud – We Got Defrauded Again!
Once again, some of the fraudsters in the Yahoo! Distribution Network committed click fraud again, and cost us ALL of our profits, and even wiped out all of our profit from our natural organic profit. This is the second time this year we had to contact our Yahoo! Search Advertising Manager to tell her of the click fraud.
Same thing as in January when some of Yahoo’s distribution network “partners” had bots clicking our ads like crazy and cost us dearly. We spent $553.73 yesterday on Yahoo! PPC campaigns and our total income from all businesses was $356.93 – a loss of over around $200 in one day! Usually we profit between $300-$500 a day, depending on what day of the week it is, month the year it is, etc. etc.
Maddening for sure, but last time we were victims of click fraud over at Yahoo! Search we were credited close to $600 USD on our accounts. They’re trying to keep their advertisers happy, but at the same time allow these crappy third-party domains in the fold. I believe that the majority of Yahoo’s third-party partners in their distribution network are honest and trustworthy, but there are always some “bad apples” floating around in the barrel, costing honest advertisers thousands of dollars a month. My wife and have calculated that on any good month, we are losing between $1000 and $2500 in click fraud a month. We put up with it because we have no choice in the matter. In the end we make a profit and it’s sort of like the price of admission in the PPC advertising model. Shouldn’t be – but it is.
So building good sites that get FREE traffic from all the search engines is even more important as click fraud is climbing every year, Click fraud on the search engines has increased by 33% since this quarter last year alone!!!!!
Apparently the major player in the PPC arena (Google, Yahoo!, and Bing) were not happy with the profits they have been making over the years, and really MUST use thirty-party domains in their “Advertising Networks”, so they can make MORE profit from spammers, crooks, liars, thieves, and bottom feeding scumbags.
OH WELL!! Some fine day, we will be making enough profit from pure natural and organic search engine traffic, that we can simply turn off all of our PPC campaigns for good.
Yeah right……as long as we can keep turning a profit from the PPC model we’ll keep putting up with a percentage of click fraud every single day. I’ll just have to bend over, whistle Dixie and take it up the (add orifice here).
