Craigslist Vancouver - All I Got Was A T-Shirt
The Craigslist site in Vancouver has become an extremely useful resource for British Columbians living in the lower mainland. Vancouver residents use their Craigslist frequently for finding people, discussions, jobs, housing, services, and local community events. When I lived in Vancouver as a young man I was often looking for all the above. I graduated from Reynolds School in Victoria in 1981, and jobs were no-where to be found (unless you dig washing dishes). I moved to Vancouver in 1982 seeking work. I found work alright - making pizza and washing dishes.
Back then I used the local newspapers for trying to find jobs, apartments that didn’t have rodents, and roomates that were not rodent-like. The Craigslist web site would have been a welcome entity back then (and so would the Internet as it is today), not that I could afford a computer or an ISP. I look back on those days when I made under $400 dollars a month, and still shake my head realizing that I make over $12,000 Canadian a month just from my web sites. I wish the Internet and Craigslist was around back then so I could have found a better job, a possible girlfriend, and some used CDs (compact disc just came out back then), and most importantly a life.
I often kick myself for not starting my Internet business sooner, but the truth is, the model I use for earning money online only blossomed five years ago. When I look back at living in North Vancouver, working at Pizza 222, and living on 3rd street, I shudder at what my income was. I made $350 a month so the need for roomates was paramount, the food quality was horrible, and the overall lifestyle was something akin to Dustin Hoffman’s character in Midnight Cowboy.
For those thousands of people living in Vancouver who need important information I could not recommend a better site then the Craigslist site. If I was a young guy again that would be my first stop when making a change in dwelling, employment, and maybe even attitude. When you visit the Vancouver Craigslist be sure to check out the cool T-shirts they have. I bought one last summer and I still where it with pride.
You probably wonder why I dig Craigslist so much….well it’s simple. I love seeing the Internet used for what it was meant for - giving people real solutions in their life. What is more important than a roof over your head, someone to love, a job, a car drive, and cool T-shirt?
